Hyde Park, NY – The public is invited to meet Italy’s most famous chef, Massimo Bottura, at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park on Tuesday, October 14. Chef Bottura will be holding a lecture and book signing in the college’s Marriott Pavilion at 10 a.m. as part of his first book tour of the United States. Bottura’s restaurant in Modena, Osteria Francescana, is ranked number three on the 2014 World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

Chef Bottura has been called “the Jimi Hendrix of Italian chefs” by Mario Batali for his innovative, boundary-breaking dishes. His Michelin three-star restaurant honors Italian food traditions while boldly advancing the cuisine into the future. He is in the United States for just nine days to promote his first major cookbook: Never Trust a Skinny Italian Chef (Phaidon, $59.95, Hardback).

The book is a tribute to Chef Bottura’s 25-year career and the evolution of Osteria Francescana. It features 50 recipes, and reveals Bottura’s inspirations (including contemporary art and music) and insight into how he develops his groundbreaking techniques and flavors. Earlier this week, he appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Chef Bottura’s presentation at the CIA is free and open to the public. The same presentation later that day at New York City’s 92nd Street Y will cost $30 per person, and tickets to see him during his time in the United States are as much as $150.
